I thought I’d start off the new year with a few thoughts for God on how He runs the world.
How wonderful are Your works, O God!
How perfect are Your promises!
But if I may offer some constructive criticism,
perhaps Your ways might be improved.
Lead us to Your quiet waters
but not through the ravine of death.
Prepare a table for us
but not in the presence of our enemies.
Give us Psalm 23
without Psalm 22.
Give us the Red Sea
without the slavery
The Promised Land
without the wilderness.
Give us Eden
without the snake.
The Tree of Life
without that other one.
Give us Easter
without Good Friday.
Give us the prize
without the race.
I like these tips! May He listen…and in the mean time, may we see the glimmer of promise as we struggle here and now.
